Claus Gunti (PhD) is an art historian, lecturer at the University of Art and Design Lausanne (ECAL) and coordinator at the Centre de la photographie Genève. His research primarily focusses on the intersection of art and technology, new forms of photographic practices and recent developments in imaging technologies. His recent writing includes texts on Julian Charrière, Maya Rochat and the digital body. His current research focusses on the links between physical realities and CGI.
The research project Automated Photography, conducted with Milo Keller and Florian Amoser at ECAL, addresses the increasing automation in photographic processes and visual culture more generally. The visual outcome of the project was presented as an exhibition during Paris Photo (2021) and at elac gallery in Lausanne (2022). The research further materialized as a book with a dozen essays by scholars and artists, and with numerous interviews of leading practitionners by Joël Vacheron.
