Patrizia Munforte is a photo historian. She received her PhD in 2016 at the University of Zurich. Her PhD thesis about 19th century mourning pictures and portraits of the dead was published under the title "Trauerbilder und Totenporträts: Nordamerikanische Miniaturmalerei und Fotografie im 19. Jahrhundert" (Berlin). During her tenure from 2012 to 2020 at the Center for Studies in the Theory and History of Photography at the University of Zurich she was an assistant researcher, lecturer and collaborated on several book projects. After working at the Swiss National Museum, Department of Historical Photography (2017–2018), she worked as a research assistant at the Fotomuseum Winterthur (2019–2020) being responsible for the art education projects "From Print to Pixel" and "Photographic Flux". Currently, Patrizia is a freelance photo historian and writer.
