Jana J. Haeckel is an art historian, curator and lecturer who examines image and body politics in contemporary art, specifically in the new ethics of photography in the digital age. Art practices that subvert historical narratives through archival research are also part of her work. Haeckel holds a PhD in art history by Université Catholique de Louvain and studied art history,
comparative literature and Romance Languages at the Humboldt Universität Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin and Sorbonne Paris. She has worked for various public and private cultural institutions, such as Goethe-Institut Brussels, Pinakothek der Moderne Munich, Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen and Boros collection Berlin.
Recent curated exhibitions involve the group exhibitions 'Resistant Faces' at Pinakothek der Moderne (Munich, 2021) and 'Everything Passes Except the Past' at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo (2020), accompanied by a publication with SternbergPress (2021) under the same title.
