Peter Pfrunder is the director and curator of Fotostiftung Schweiz, Winterthur. Under his direction, starting 1998, the Fotostiftung has become the main institution for the conservation of the photographic heritage of Switzerland. In 2011, he edited the first comprehensive survey on Swiss photobooks from 1927 to the present. He was invited to curate exhibitions in many countries (France, Germany, Spain, Italy, China, India) and has published a large number of books and essays on historical and contemporary photography.
