The association's members are institutions and individuals working the field of photography: museums, galleries, libraries and archives, festivals, art schools, fairs, publishing houses, curators, critics, restorers, printers, researchers, editors, publishers, writers, journalists, among others. Any individual or institution professionally working with photography in Switzerland and neighbouring regions, with the exception of image makers, can become a members.
The membership fee amounts to CHF 100.-/year for an individual membership and CHF 200.-/year for a collective membership.
New members are initially approved by Spectrum's board, and proposed as members during the general assembly at the end of the year.
Several organisations in Switzerland are dedicated to artists, photographers and image makers: near., vfg – Vereinigung Fotografischer GestalterInnen and vfg pool, USPP – Union Suisse des Photographes Professionnels or visarte, among others.
